Benchmark Project

The NC Digital Media students were tasked to create a website for an organisation called Benchmark which is based in Ellon, Aberdeenshire. Benchmark is a wood workshop producing quality garden furniture for sale to the general public, but it is also a work project, which aims to provide a real work experience for adults who are normally excluded from the working environment due to their learning disabilities. The students first of all interviewed Peter Scarlet who runs the day to day business at Benchmark to elicit the requirements which would enable them to get the designing of the website started. The interview took place at the Bechmark premises in an industrial unit on the Castle Park Industrial Estate in Ellon. After the students created and tested the websites Peter Scarlet and Lena North were invited to Aberdeen College to have a look at the websites and then select the one which best met their requirements. The website they picked was the one designed by Zoey Findlay. Peter and Lena then asked Zoey to make a few adjustments to the website. Zoey received a prize from the Computing and IT department which was presented by the head of the department Cameron Walker. during one of the classes.
