The course is part of a 2+2 arrangement with The Robert Gordon University and learners have had significant success in progressing to further studies.

There are also progression links with University of Aberdeen, Abertay University, Caledonian University and others where learners want to study different aspects of Software Development in more depth.  The courses learners have progressed on to cover a range of areas such as Games Design, Computer Science, Internet and Multimedia, Computing for Graphics and Animation. Some learners have also progressed to trainee positions in software development companies.

The sort of thing (exciting) that students get to do on the course:

Learners are part of the Hybrid and Paperless Class Initiative and are all issued with laptops.  This allows them to download software to support them in their classes and to continue to develop their projects outside of timetabled classes.  Learners are presented with real world projects to tackle on their course including producing an interactive game based on “Who wants to be a Millionaire”, developing an on-line booking system, and developing solutions for real clients in their final project.  Learners are encouraged to take control of their own learning with the lessons being conducted as guided tutorials on a range of subjects.  Software used on the course includes: Python, Java, Visual Basic, asp.net, Visio.
