Student Helpdesk
This year saw the instigation of a unique project involving HNC level students providing IT support to College computer users.
This project – the first of its kind in Scotland – was supported by RM , the College’s IT support providers and allows our HNC Computing students invaluable, front-line technical support experience.
Students arrange their own shift times on a rota and provide a two hour commitment to man the student helpdesk in the IT centre. They provide their fellow students with help and advice on a wide range of subjects from password issues to application support.
Students have access to support resources from RM team members and College staff.
The desk has been up and running since the start of the year and has already received a great deal of positive feedback from students, supervisors and from RM staff who really value the effort that the students are putting in.
